David Cabezuelo Named Finalist for Stone and Wood Award

Published on October 23, 2023

David Cabezuelo Polo, a 2021 graduate from IED Madrid's Graphic Design program, was among the 24 finalists vying for the prestigious Stone and Wood Award. The award, presented by the city of Bilbao and the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, recognizes and promotes talent and creativity within the design industry.

Cabezuelo was nominated for this award for his end-of-studies project, "Post-vision", the first color chart/sample book for the visually impaired. The project aims to serve as a code for understanding color between visually impaired and sighted people, bridging the language of color and Braille. In Post-vision, Cabezuelo developed a color sample book that enables understanding color through Braille language, providing a manual for combining and defining each Post-vision colour. Post-vision tackles the everyday challenges visually impaired individuals face when choosing a color by touch, considering Braille standards. The project aims to improve people's lives by responding to their specific needs. The Stone and Wood Award was part of the annual Selected event, which will take place in Bilbao on November 23 and 24. The two-day event will have conferences, talks, and activities to foster collective creativity among professionals and students.
