Insubordinate: the IED graduates fashion show celebrated imperfect beauty
Graduates of IED Roma's Fashion Design and Jewellery Design courses showcased their creations last July in the Ex Caserma Guido Reni as part of the Altaroma events. Their work represented a reversal of the rules celebrating imperfection. The capsule collections highlighted the construction of each garment and were accompanied by three jewellery collections, and three accessory collections. These included Gianluca Zumbolo's Bodyparts, a collection that investigates the body and how it changes with time, and Maria Eleonora Pignata's AKETH, a tribute to Sekhmet, the Egyptian goddess of pandemics and healings, in collaboration with Musei Vaticani. Laura Finizio explored man as a product of nature and an inseparable part of it through natural fabrics and sequins made of agar-agar, a biopolymer derived from algae. Ida Paliotta, with "Vanishing Africa", worked on the relationship between man and the environment. Among the jewellery collections, Anna Tessarin’s told of a rebellious nature, which becomes evil after centuries of abuse. The spotlight was also on the project "A Future Together" by Ludovica La Rocca, John Ray Tiva, and Martina Proia, in collaboration with Maglificio Gran Sasso, created to imagine the future of the historic made-in-Italy clothing brand. Finally, the '80/20′ capsule collection by Sara Mancini exalted Punk's cultural references, electing them as engines of change.
