May in the Big Apple
Three silvers at The Young Ones advertising contest. These awards won by IED graduates from Rome and Milan, gives us the opportunity to talk about the IED alumni who presented their projects in New York and won prizes both at the NYCxDesign Festival and at Creative Week.

These awards are among the most coveted in the world of advertising. Awards that open the doors to successful careers and that represent an incentive to move forward with even more energy and motivation. And it is with this spirit, always looking beyond, that IED graduates collected their awards from The Young Ones at the event organized by The One Club for Creativity during Creative Week. They are students fom IED Milano: Martina Busacca, Federico Catania, Carla Gandi, Nicolò Clausi, Filippo Fabulli, Alessandro Azzolini, Giorgia Cavadini, Francesco Cogliati Edoardo Dusina, and the students of IED Roma: Lorenzo Di Donna and Ilaria Vasari. Their projects? Fascinating, visionary, multi-channel and innovative, capable of interpreting contemporary reality by putting creativity at good use.
But the New York success by IED students and alumni doesn't stop there. In the prestigious context of the NYCxDESIGN International Festival, IED Italy and IED Spain will participate in the virtual exhibition Wanted Design International Schools Show, from 9 May to 30 June 2022, with a selection of projects that follow the common thread of sustainability and inclusiveness. Among these, the Lesbos Regufee Camp by Naroa Zabaleta - IED Bilbao, already winner of the Conscious Design Award 2022.
Launch Pad is a further event where another two IED alumni distinguished themselves. It is an international platform for emerging designers. Bodin Hon and Dilara Kan, both alumni with a Master in Design, Innovation Strategy and Product from IED Milano, and founders of Yellowdot Design studio, participated in the Emerging Designers Showcase with 3 lighting design projects.
Bodin Hon, awarded with the youth prize of the prestigious Adi Compasso d’oro International Award in 2015 for his project Solari - The solar cooker, made open air cooking possible thanks to solar energy. He is among the protagonists of the young and innovative scene in international design. Lastly, IED Madrid alumnus Alvaro Catalan De Ocon's vernissage of the PET Plastic Loop took place May 17th in Brooklyn. He is the Spanish designer who launched PET Lamps ten years ago, with a social design project based on the reuse of plastic bottles by weaving craftsmen.
Lastly an extra accomplishment by Yellowdot Design Studio that received an ‘ADC Cube’ award for a client’s work in packaging design.
