Gisella Alfieri Sabattini, an IED Milano alumna and digital beauty artist based in Silicon Valley, is introducing artificial intelligence (AI) and beauty. Sabattini says AI can be used in several ways in the beauty industry. This includes personalizing makeup advice based on skin color and facial features.

Sabattini also explores the emotional potential of AI, utilizing algorithms to interpret emotions to inform the creation of cosmetics that mirror specific emotional states. Contrary to popular beliefs about AI, she believes that while it can't truly feel emotions, it can simulate them.

Born into an artisan family in Cantù, Italy, Sabattini moved to California in 2013. She explains that her shift from traditional arts to digital beauty artwork was a reinvention process in response to her new tech-centric environment. Despite the dramatic change in her work, she continues to draw inspiration from various sources, including artists such as Yayoi Kusama and Tim Walker. She also draws inspiration from everyday life.
