Gabriele Chiave conquers Milan
The IED Milano alumnus, following the end of his adventure with Marcel Wanders and the birth of his Controvento movement, captivates and fascinates with his proposals during his first Design Week as a protagonist.
At the beginning of April, he told the Community all about his fabulously sustainable installation designed for Audi, “The Domino Act”, a success announced by the renders. Inaugurated yesterday in the splendid setting of Portrait Milan, it has conquered the public and experts with its effectiveness, imaginative power, and ability to interpret light. After sunset, the installation comes "alive" thanks to an interaction of sounds, music, and lights, that entertains visitors and conveys the underlying message of the project, which is its real strength: by aligning our actions with the rhythms of nature, we can create a sustainable and prosperous future. "This way," Gabriele said, "progress becomes a shared enterprise that unites us and helps us build a better world for everyone."
For the designer, as well as for Audi, the current week represents not only an opportunity to showcase the brand's radical transformation in terms of technology and sustainability but also an opportunity to reflect on the future in collaboration with different realities from the world of information, entrepreneurship, and culture. In line with this goal, on Tuesday 18th, a talk was held at Palazzo Arcivescovile in Milan, also participated by Sebastian Copeland, Umberto Galimberti, Federico Marchetti, and Fabrizio Longo, and moderated by journalist Francesca Fagnani.
Gabriele is also one of the designers involved by Stir in its project "Letters to Design", an original glossary for which the designer interprets the theme of "texture" in a video and on the magazine's website. And it is precisely texture, in addition to the original and surprising design, that is the main characteristic of other creations by Gabriele visible at Milan Design Week. If you are around Milan these days, you can’t miss Louis Vuitton's installations: the Petal Chair made by Gabriele for Marcel Wanders is among the featured objects of the fifth edition of the "Louis Vuitton Objets Nomades" exhibition set up in the Garage Traversi space, a beautiful example of rationalist architecture and a historical place for Milanese tradition, designed by Giuseppe de Min. After twenty years of inactivity, it is returned to Milan, completely renewed. Also worth seeing are the two collections by Gabriele for Fendi, whose new furnishings and accessories are visitable in Maison's boutique in Piazza della Scala and at Fendi Casa Apartment in Via Montenapoleone 3.
If you are at the Salone, do not miss the presentation of Marcel Wanders' new Nightbloom collection for Lladró at Euroluce, one of Gabriele Chiave's latest projects for the Dutch studio. It is a collection of white porcelain lamps inspired by the delicate dance of flower petals in the wind. Hand-carved with a sense of natural fluidity, each element of a lamp-bouquet is a skilled artisanal creation, unique and unrepeatable.
In short, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to discover and support one of the protagonist in our Community and be inspired by his innovative and poetic style.
