Matteo Cozzo graduated from IED Torino in 2018 with a degree in Illustration. Since then, he has been working as an Art Director and collective artist at Truly Design, a studio specialising in boutique graphic and communication work as well as graffiti and street art. "Our anamorphic works, walls, and basketball courts can be found in various locations across Italy, Europe, Hong Kong, New York, and Miami", says Matteo. "We have collaborated with major brands such as Spotify, Adidas, Ferrari, Volkswagen, Lavazza, and Nike, earning a Cannes Golden Lion Award for a project with Spotify and several mentions in the ADI Design Index".

Alongside his studio work, Matteo has pursued a personal artistic path centred around image collage as a medium of expression. His creative output is diverse and dynamic, whether on digital, paper, or wall artwork, as seen in his recent project for Dr Martens or related to experimental motion graphics and animation.

Matteo’s passion for music has led him to gravitate towards the world of graphics and animation, initially within the independent scene. He has worked on projects such as Rhabdomantic Orchestra - Suffer! Suffer!, Emblema, Leandro feat. Eugenio in Via di Gioia, several motion graphic works and a lyric video per Vinicio Capossela in collaboration with Elisa Seitzinger.

In 2020, Matteo won the first contest launched by the IED Alumni Network with his video for Warner Classics. "The very day I signed up for the IED Alumni platform, I saw that a contest had been launched to create a video for Warner Classics. Though a couple of days away from the deadline, I decided to give it a try and produced the script, storyboard and character design and was selected by the artist", said Matteo. His entry was a video for Gautier Capucon's interpretation of Einaudi's "Una Mattina", featuring an innovative and unconventional animation style.

The proposed animation, definitely out of the box for the classical music world, convinced Warner so much that Matteo was contacted again for other projects. The latest video is for Shani Diluka, a British Sri Lankan pianist, in a minimal piano cover of “Bird’s Lament”, a Moondog piece. "While I'm not an expert" Matteo said, "This is a composer I know and am fond of, so I was able to translate biographical references into images in a fever dream of a New York whose rhythm he translated into music as a blind man, the same city as Charlie Parker, who inspired the piece."
