Emiliano Ponzi and his image for the Salone del Mobile communication campaign

Published on January 31, 2022

IED Alumnus and award-winning illustrator, Emiliano Ponzi, is the artist who created the image of the communication campaign for the sixtieth edition of the Salone del Mobile.Milano. Famous for its essential and precise trait, Emiliano was commissioned to create six posters - one for each decade of the history of the event - which illustrate the link with the city and with the evolution of design, lifestyles and needs of the social agenda. Specifically: the first poster represents an interior of the Milan of the 60s, the second, the working-class city of the 70s; the third, the Milan to drink, that of fashion and design of the 1980s. For the 90s, Ponzi was inspired by the Teatro alla Scala and its relationship with the Salone, and for the first decade of 2000 he focused on the new spaces of Fiera Milano in Rho designed by Massimiliano Fuksas and home of the Salone since 2006. Finally, the last manifesto reflects on the present and opens to the future, focusing on the concept of sustainability.
