Published on August 4, 2021

Let's identify together five sound designers who have attended the IED classrooms, and have established themselves in music and film making.  And let's discover the name of a young, new, promising graduate from IED!

ENRICO SANGIULIANO
Speaking of sound design, we cannot fail to mention Enrico Sangiuliano: world-famous DJ, performer and sound designer, with a diploma from IED Milano. Enrico has become a real star of the techno music scene, obtaining recognition in 2015 with his remix of "Can You Hear Me" by DJ Boris, which became the best-selling techno song on the Beatports platform, where he became n°1 best-selling techno artist of 2016. His debut album came in 2018, before and after experiences that have seen him work on collaborations and remix projects such as Moby’s "Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad”, and perform at venues such as Sonar, Awakenings and HADES. Recently Enrico also collaborated with Charlotte de Witte in remixing the tranche classic "The Age of Love".

VINCENZO PIZZI
Among the IED Alumni who studied sound design and have now become professionals, there is also Vincenzo Pizzi (read his interview). Born in Molise, but Roman by adoption, with a full marks diploma at IED Roma, he began a journey that lead him to publish several productions for Labrynth, Secret Keywords, Scuderia, Absolute Records, Sticky Ground, Ōtomo, and then establish his own label Pyteca in 2016. As a multifaceted sound designer, Vincenzo also worked in the audiovisual sector, especially fashion (Vogue, Alberta Ferretti, Roberto Cavalli and others) and well-known food and beverage brands such as Red Bull and Skipper Zuegg.

FEDERICA CAIOZZO
Better known as Thony, she also graduated from IED Roma. Italian singer-songwriter and actress, Federica Caiozzo has collaborated with the world of cinema, making her debut in Paolo Virzì's film "Tutti i santi giorni”, for which she also composed the soundtrack, receiving the prestigious David di Donatello award in 2013 for the best original song in a film. Today she continues to work successfully as a musician and performer for cinema and television (one of hes latest engagements, for example, was the Sky "Summertime" series, where she starred and in whose soundtrack there is her own song).

TINA BAFFIGO
T.I.N.A. is a IED Roma Alumna. And she was one of the three finalists of the SKY Uno HD broadcast entitled "TOP Dj". Professional sound designer, she began to get passionate about consoles already in her childhood afternoons, spent among her father's vinyls and mixers. In addition to clubbing, Tina Baffigo also works in the fashion world, with the creation of catwalk sounds, sound logos and commercials. Another important experience for her came thanks to the friendship with pop singer Emma Marrone, who chose Tina to open her concerts all over Italy.

MATTEO BENDINELLI
Another IED talent who studied Sound Design, and landed in the magical world of cinema, is Matteo Bendinelli. He's a sound designer, sound editor and a sound effects editor who boasts collaborations for films such as "La Grande Bellezza" by Paolo Sorrentino and very successful television dramas such as "La Catturandi" and "Rocco Schiavone". It is a recognition that adds to the satisfaction that Claudio Coco achieved during his brilliant career, which also saw him as a language consultant for the Netflix teen drama "On the same wave". He will also soon be a sound engineer for "Power of Rome", an Italian international film and Sky production with Vision Distribution, due out in cinemas in 2021.
