IN A NUTSHELL:
- IED Milano
- Industrial Design - 2011
- Founder & Designer at Simone Bonanni Studio
YOU NOW:
I’m a product designer based in Milan. I focus both on product design and limited edition while investigating the world of creativity and always looking for new trends and fresh perspectives to inject into my everyday work. I have particular attention to the great communicative power of objects. I consider them as “activators of emotions” before being just physical entities. And over time I shifted the focus of my work from the technical design of an object to the design of the emotion that this can arise, giving more importance to the sphere of perception rather than the merely material one. I’m currently working on projects for selected international brands such as Alessi, Moooi, MDF Italia, FIAM, Falper, Mingardo and many others.

CREATIVITY:
IED is one of the main actors in the Italian design system, especially in those years. It came quite natural to apply for IED Design and the idea of living in Milan was exciting.

IED LOCATIONS:
I come from Pordenone, a small city in Friuli and I’ve always dreamed to live in a bigger and more international city. Milan was the first choice and when I arrived here it was love at first sight. Milan is so charming and full of energy and if you pay the right attention, it can give you constant input and inspiration for your projects, regardless of the creative field you are working on.

CHALLENGES OF OUR TIMES:
My projects are strictly connected to industries and manufacturing processes. My workflow slowed down as most of the companies are not leaving at their best time. This gave me some time to meditate on what to do next, and on how to approach life, in general. I guess the pandemic made me think about how important is to focus on quality rather than quantity, on emotions rather than numbers, nowadays. I believe it’s time, for every designer, to finally put a little piece of their heart into every project. It’s time, once again, to create a culture with design. I guess we are at the beginning of a new Renaissance, it is painful yet exciting.

SUSTAINABILITY:
I believe being sustainable means also accepting fewer projects, dedicating to each one a conspicuous amount of time, and making sure you are doing it right.

ADVICE:
Fight the comfort zone. The Comfort zone kills our creative minds!
