Miami's artistic renaissance and our Alumni

Published on January 9, 2024

Miami has always been the warm and comfortable place where rich Americans used to go for a happy retirement. It was a funny city for people in their seventies, with gyms, pools, golf clubs and similar. But to offer those services the city needed young workers and also young companies, therefore local economy were reshaped, evolving into an exciting place to stay at any age.

Art Miami is the perfect example of this phenomenon: associated with Art Basel, the nr 1 art event in the world, the Miami Art Week hosted more than 20 art shows and hundreds of artists and designers in 2023.
Among them there were Mattia Bari, artist, performer and entrepreneur who studied Illustration and Animation at IED Milano. Mattia founded his own visual brand in New York, with which he produced art pieces and illustrations for fashion brands and art galleries. His latest character, who was even exhibited at Times Sqaure, is FAKE, a super mask embodying the deconstruction of contemporary pop culture and especially its fakeness.

Moreover, the historical motel Selina Gold Dust hosted an exhibition developed by students of the Master course in Visual Arts for the Digital Age: Room 207 was occupied by Denoise, an interactive video mapping experience that was inviting participants to embrace the unknown as an integral part of existence.
